I have been teaching French at Alleyn Court for the past 15 years. French has always been a particular strength of the school with a tradition of employing native French teachers. Starting French in the Pre-Prep, pupils develop a good pronunciation, knowledge of vocabulary and grammar and are very confident to perform conversations in front of others. This is particularly apparent on our Year 6 trip to Boulogne when our pupils communicate with enthusiasm with French shop keepers.
Like me, many of our teachers are secondary trained and we use our specialist knowledge to enhance the pupils’ learning so that they start secondary school with the confidence needed to excel in a range of different subjects. Our small classes, our caring approach and our high expectations enable our pupils to grow up and become mature, organised, friendly, happy, resilient and curious to discover new horizons.
