Did you know that Africa is made of more than 50 different countries and it is the second largest continent on Earth? Year 2 were amazed at just how large this continent really is! We did some research to find facts about Africa and we used our atlases and a globe to locate some of the countries. In DT we did some weaving using African patterns and we made African silhouettes in beautiful sunsets. We learned about African masks and we designed and made some of our own. Mrs Dowling, who is a teacher at Sweyne Park School, talked to us about their school link with Kisarica School in Tanzania. It was amazing to hear all about this school and the improvements that have been made, as a result of fundraising activities. We also really enjoyed exploring African artefacts which Mrs Dowling had collected on her trips to Tanzania – she even climbed Mount Kilimanjaro
